There are many ways in which you can get involved with the activities of Entraide:
Volunteer with us
EntraideUK are looking for a number of volunteers to support the vital work we do.
Role:
Volunteer Befrienders are matched to an individual asylum seeker or refugee. The aim for the volunteer is to support the person they are matched with
• to familiarise themselves with the local area,
• to help them integrate into the local community,
• to gain access to other services and
• to help alleviate the emotional stress caused by past trauma and the present asylum process.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers must be able to spare two to three hours per week on a flexible basis and some daytime availability is preferred even at weekends. Befriender matches vary in length of time. Volunteers must be able to commit to the role for a minimum of six months, attend regular supervision sessions and attend mandatory training.
Location:
We are based in Chelmsley Wood however, volunteers visit the clients in their own home so you must be prepared to travel some distance either by walking, car or public transport.
Role:
Homework Club Volunteers will assist in running the homework club by helping co-run educational activities for young people and assisting with homework and educational tasks with other volunteers.
Time commitment : The Homework Club runs every Monday from 3.30-6.00pm. You will also be required to commit to regular supervision sessions with the Volunteer Coordinator and attend mandatory training.
Location : Entraide UK, Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church Centre, Hedingham Grove, Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, B37 7TP.
Role:
Volunteer Interpreters support clients seeking advice by facilitating the flow of communication between clients with none/limited English and our advisors and where possible, interpreting written information
Time commitment : Our advisors make appointments during the week and will ask if you are free to support with interpreting. Volunteers will need to commit to regular supervision with the Volunteer Coordinator and attend mandatory training.

Entraide devote every financial contribution we receive to meet the needs of the people we support. We undertake various projects here in the UK and in Africa all of which require financial and human resources. We rely on the generous support of individuals to fund our work. Your support can make a real difference in changing the lives of refugees and asylum seekers we support in the UK as well as those of disadvantaged people we support in Africa.
Entraide has a number of projects through which people can help to change the lives of refugees and asylum seekers as well as people affected by inequality and injustice, poverty and marginalisation, etc. in Africa.
We provide advocacy and practical support to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK to enable them to successfully integrate into society. We need people with suitable skills, knowledge and interest to support this work. If you feel that you could help with this work, please do not hesitate to contact us.
