The casework & advocacy project funded by Lloyds Bank and the Henry Smith Charity aims at supporting asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants to access statutory support by providing advice, helping them with filling forms, making phone calls and advocating for their rights.

Most of the work we do as part of this project is supporting vulnerable individuals who are at transition/crisis point, such as migrant women fleeing domestic violence, Unaccompanied asylum seeking Children leaving the Care of the Local Authority, newly granted refugees, individuals who have recently moved to the area or who experience a change in their circumstances and find themselves in a system that might seem confusing and hostile. Our role is to offer emotional support and impartial advice to encourage the individuals to consider their options and entitlements, in terms of immigration status, housing, sources of financial support, access to education and healthcare. As part of this project we also deliver basic immigration advice (OISC Level 1), especially related to completion of travel documents and citizenship applications for refugees as well as supporting other migrants to extend their leave to remain in the UK.
